Networking His Way to an Internship

Cameron Davis recently had the opportunity to participate in the Career Trek Program offered by the Ole Miss Business School, which took him to Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas. Little did he know that this trip would lead him to secure an internship at a top company in the area.

The Career Trek Program gave him the chance to explore the world of work and learn more about different organizations and their opportunities. During the trek, several key companies in
the Dallas-Fort Worth area were visited and the students had the chance to connect with their representatives, learn about their culture, and get a feel for what a day in the life at those organizations would be like.

The highlight of his experience was the networking reception, where he had the chance to connect with alumni and business professionals. The etiquette luncheon before the event was particularly helpful, as it gave him the tools and confidence needed to approach potential employers and make a good impression.

As it turns out, his networking efforts paid off, and he was fortunate enough to secure an internship at General Datatech, thanks to his connection with their Chief Information Officer. Davis said, “This experience has been truly beneficial for me, as I’ve been able to gain valuable skills, make new connections, and get a glimpse of what it’s like to work in a dynamic and fast-paced industry.”

“Overall, I would highly recommend the Career Trek Program to anyone who is looking to explore career options, learn from industry leaders, and make valuable connections,” said Davis. “Thanks to this program, I now have a better understanding of what I want to do after graduation and feel confident that I have the skills and connections to achieve my career goals.”
