Helping Others Overcome Problems

Nick Douglas is a freshman from Collierville, Tennessee, pursuing a major in entrepreneurship. He is very involved both on campus and in the community, and he also owns his own business.

He is a member of the Chancellor’s Leadership Class, a member of Beta Theta Pi, and has started numerous businesses and organizations. HOOPS (Helping Others Overcome Problems), which he founded, is a nonprofit organization, which focuses on helping professional athletes foster an intimate connection and presence within their communities.

Nick is also working on a new development, Sidequests, that will be the first social media app structured to get users off their phones and engaged with the world. This app will allow users to build a platform based on their experiences while traveling which, will help connect them to other users.

“Taking my entrepreneurial efforts to the next level at Ole Miss has been the best decision for me,” he said. “There’s no denying that the next generation of influencers will be headlined by entrepreneurs, and the emphasis that the University of Mississippi is placing on entrepreneurship is incredible.”

In the next five years, Nick projects growth in both himself and his businesses. In regards to HOOPs, he hopes to expand the organization’s footprint across all major sports leagues internationally. “It’s my mission to reach as many lives as possible, and I see this as a solution to some of the generational curses seen across America in most of our cities.”

In regards to his new app, Sidequests, Nick believes it will become one of the top social media apps alongside Instagram, TikTok, X, and snapchat. He will continue to use his entrepreneurship spirit to expand what he has built to try and impact others. Nick loves Ole Miss and looks forward to staying involved in years to come.
