Dr. Ken Cyree

Dean of the School of Business Administration; Frank R. Day/Mississippi Bankers Association Chair of Banking; Professor of Finance

Dr. Ken Cyree is Dean, the Frank R. Day/Mississippi Bankers Association chair of banking, and professor of finance at the University of Mississippi School of Business Administration. Cyree received his doctorate and MBA from the University of Tennessee. He is the director of the Mississippi School of Banking and a former faculty member at the graduate school of banking at LSU. Cyree worked in industry as a credit manager in the textile industry for many years before entering academia.

Cyree’s research interests are in banking, financial markets, interest rates and regulation. His published works have appeared in the Journal of Business, Financial Management, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Financial Research, the Journal of Financial Services Research, the Journal of Financial Markets, and Financial Review and numerous other academic journals.

He was vice president for the program and is past-president of the Southern Finance Association. He has also served on the nominating committee for the Eastern Finance Association. In addition, Cyree was on the editorial board of the Journal of Business Research and is currently a former associate editor at the Journal of Financial Research. He was awarded the Outstanding Teacher of the Year in 2007 and Outstanding Senior Researcher in 2014 for the University of Mississippi School of Business Administration.

Cyree has spoken to the Conference of Bank State Supervisors, the St. Louis Federal Reserve, the Mississippi Bankers Association and testified before the Mississippi State Legislature Banking Committee. He is also a board member of the Mississippi Young Bankers Association.

As Dean, Cyree has focused the strategic direction of the school on high-quality scholarship, demonstrated by publishing in highly-ranked journals, as well as high-quality, relevant and rigorous teaching.
