United Way and Ole Miss School of Business Partner for Compelling Messaging

The United Way of Oxford-Lafayette County (United Way) fights for every citizen’s health, education, basic needs, and financial stability. The Ole Miss School of Business has partnered with the organization in order to visually represent the needs of the Lafayette-Oxford-University community.

Dr. Meg Barnes’ business communication students choose a need area, research one of these four pillars, and create infographics. These visual depictions represent information, graphs, data, and knowledge in a quick, clear, and meaningful story. The infographics integrate local needs and the potential impact of giving on advancing United Way’s vision, mission, and fundraising efforts.

Executive Director Kurt Brummett is excited to collaborate through this new endeavor. “Our impact resides in the numerous lives that benefit from people investing in our community, and we are thrilled to partner with the Ole Miss School of Business through this new opportunity, especially in the midst of our annual giving campaign on campus and in preparation for Giving Tuesday as well as the holiday season.”

Hanna Espy is one of these business communication students who is designing an infographic. Hanna relayed, “I believe that all people should give back to their community and that The United Health Way is the best resource to do this, especially with their many services. There are other organizations to which you can make donations. However, The United Health Way is guaranteed to use the donations to make the greatest impact.”
