Mitchell McDowell is a Certified Business Counselor through the Small Business Administration (SBA) and served as the Southern Regional Director for the Mississippi Small Business Development Center (MSBDC) for six years. Starting October 1, 2016, he assumed the position of MSBDC Assistant Director, overseeing program performance and supporting the organization’s ten (10) regional sub-centers.
Mitchell became an authorized Export Assistance Provider in April 2013 and is the recipient of the 2012 MSBDC State Star Award which acknowledges extraordinary efforts to achieve and support the goals and mission of the Mississippi SBDC Network.
Before joining the MSBDC, Mitchell owned and operated several small businesses. These previous business ventures include a health and fitness facility, co-op advertising and marketing company, retail establishment, and a service provider business. Mitchell is a graduate of Louisiana State University and possesses a Master’s Degree in Entrepreneurship from Western Carolina University.
