Industry Specific Career Events Experience Success

The Ole Miss Real Estate and Marketing Departments hosted targeted fall career events for business students.  Both events featured a panel discussion with industry professionals and allowed business students to engage and network with employers.  Students had the opportunity to ask questions, inquire about openings and learn more about fields and industries at these events.

The Ole Miss Real Estate department hosted The Real Estate Fall Forum on October 21st. The one-day event featured a panel discussion and an internship/career fair.

Tracy Wofford (Appraisal Institute), Brian Estes (Institute of Real Estate Management), and Brian Phillips (Certified Commercial Investment Member) shared information with students regarding professional real estate designations and industry trends. Following the panel discussion, students had the opportunity to visit with real estate companies and organizations.

The first Ole Miss Business BASE Bootcamp was held October 27-28 in Johnson Commons. The event kicked off with an expert panel that discussed success in sales, analytics, and supply chain management in today’s fast-paced technological environment. Jennifer Anderson (C-Spire), Will Ash (Cisco), Adam Bettis (Medtronic), and Claude Russ (FedEx Dataworks) shared career-developing insights to students. On Thursday, students participated in roundtable “speed-networking” sessions. Industry representatives posed provocative BASE-relevant issues to which students responded. Ole Miss students proved up to the task, and the industry reps walked away from the event thoroughly impressed with the talent pool. The following companies participated in the roundtable discussions:

C-Spire

Cisco

Insight Global

Mylo

RJ Young

Strategic Resource Management

Trane Technologies

Awards will be given to top-performing students at a marketing reception on November 30.
