Dr. Gárate is an Assistant Professor of Real Estate/Finance and serves as Director of the Real Estate program at the University of Mississippi. Dr. Gárate’s research examines issues related to Technology Impact on Real Estate, Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs), Urban Economics, Information Asymmetry, and Government Sponsored Enterprises. He regularly presents at national conferences for a number of organizations including American Real Estate and Urban Economics Association, Urban Economics Association, Regional Science and Urban Economics, and American Real Estate Society. His research has been published in leading peer review journals and has received awards for his research from the American Real Estate Society. Dr. Gárate received his Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University, where he specialized in Real Estate and obtained a minor in Economics. Prior to receiving his Ph.D., Dr. Gárate worked for companies such as Citibank, Freddie Mac , Walmart and Repsol YPF, among others. Dr. Gárate brings some of his industry experience into the classroom through experiential learning.
