The Flagship, the Rebel, and the “Hotty Toddy”
OXFORD, Miss. – As the School of Business Administration at the flagship university of Mississippi, our mission is simple yet powerful: to serve the state and create opportunity for its people. When you join our program, you step into a legacy built on progress, leadership, and a commitment to strengthening Mississippi’s future.
Ole Miss is the oldest and largest university in Mississippi, and with that history comes a deep responsibility. Our students are not only part of this legacy, they actively shape it. Through cutting‑edge programs and the guidance of well‑established, dedicated faculty and staff, today’s business Rebels are making a meaningful impact across the state.
The School of Business Administration embraces its role wholeheartedly. We recognize the profound responsibility we carry to uplift Mississippi’s communities economically, socially, and academically.
Our leadership team is committed to ensuring that every program, partnership, and initiative moves Mississippi forward. As Interim Dean Dr. Paul Johnson shares:
“Flagship status isn't just a title; it's an obligation to the state that built this University and the people who depend on it. Every student we develop, every discovery we make, and every partnership we build makes Mississippi stronger.”
Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs Dr. Danielle Ammeter adds:
“Being the flagship means setting the direction for the future of Mississippi and preparing students like you who will shape that future.”
Together, these messages reflect our purpose: serving the next generation of business leaders and empowering them to build Mississippi’s future.
Your journey at Ole Miss is shaped by resources designed to elevate your academic and professional path. Dr. Johnson further emphasizes:
“Being the flagship university for the state of Mississippi means we ask, and answer, the questions that no one else can. It means we don’t just participate in the state's economic future; we drive it. It means the best students in Mississippi choose us because they want more…”
Our curriculum reflects this ambition. Students gain access to coursework that supports certification‑ready preparation across Finance, Management, and Marketing, and other high‑demand career fields. These programs are crafted to ensure students are not just learning but becoming industry‑ready professionals.
We care about our students beyond the classroom. Our active alumni network consists of over 33,000 alum who help support the School of Business through mentorship, donations, and connections to various industries. We have our own career services center that is dedicated solely to business majors and major specific advisory boards that are built up of industry leaders who help ensure we are providing an education to students that will prepare them to excel in the business world.
Dr. Danielle Ammeter expands on our career readiness community by explaining,
“When you become an Ole Miss Business Rebel, you join a community that believes in your potential and invests in your success. You will gain the knowledge, experiences, and connections to build a meaningful career—and to help move the state of Mississippi forward.”
The School of Business Administration invites you to become part of a community dedicated to leadership, innovation, and service. By joining Ole Miss Business, you will gain the tools, experiences, and connections needed to build a successful career while helping shape the future of Mississippi.
