BASE Summit Sparks Student Success
OXFORD, Miss. – BASE, short for Business Analytics, Sales, and Supply Chain Excellence, is a faculty led organization dedicated to connecting students to professional development and employment opportunities.
Every spring semester the organization hosts the BASE Summit. This year 10 companies looking for talent in professional sales, supply chain, and business analytics came to meet with over 150 of our students on campus.
One student who benefited from the experience is Malia Berkenfield, a senior Professional Sales major from Costa Mesa, California. During the summit, she connected with several companies, including CED (a Boeing Company), Clearwater Security, CoStar, Dell Technologies, Enterprise, Howard, Insight Global, and RJ Young.
Reflecting on her experience, Malia shared, “I loved being able to connect with people and learn about their companies! I think BASE is such a great way for students to network and get internships or jobs. I’m so thankful I was given this opportunity, as it led me to secure a job!”
Following the BASE Summit, Malia accepted a Business Development Representative position with Clearwater Security in Nashville, Tennessee, beginning June 1.
BASE offers numerous opportunities for students to maximize their college experience. Through involvement, students can access scholarships, join a sales and marketing fraternity, participate in professional development programs, and build meaningful peer connections. Ultimately, BASE provides a strong foundation for students looking to launch successful careers.
