Building More Than a Business

Headshot of Cole Spies.

OXFORD, Miss. – In his four years at Ole Miss, Cale Spies was a member of ROTC, President of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, and started a booming security business. Cale is a 2025 Ole Miss graduate with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He finished his last three years of high school in Mountain Brook, Alabama. He chose Ole Miss because he was awarded an ROTC scholarship, which made it possible for him to attend college. During his time at Ole Miss, Cale was able to grow academically, professionally, and personally.

In his sophomore year, Cale founded Shielded Security. He took the skills and knowledge he developed in his finance, management, and marketing courses and applied them to his company under the guidance of tremendous mentors. Shielded Security is a Mississippi-based event and private security company that specializes in large-scale event protection, crowd management, and venue security. Additionally, they provide traditional security services such as patrol, standing post assignments, access control, and ongoing property coverage. The security team is trained to adapt to client needs depending on the circumstances of the job and to proactively monitor risks.

Cale explains, “Our focus is not just on presence, but on proactive risk management, clear communication, and coordination with local law enforcement to ensure every environment remains safe and professional.”

Cale also acknowledges that serving as President of Sigma Alpha Epsilon was an important part of his college experience. That leadership role significantly impacted the start of Shielded Security and taught him how to manage a large organization, oversee operations, and strengthen his decision-making, communication, and accountability skills.

Today, Cale still resides in Oxford, Mississippi, while traveling frequently for work. In addition to leading Shielded Security, he serves in the Mississippi Army National Guard with the 185th Aviation Brigade as a Finance Officer. He was proudly commissioned from the University of Mississippi in May 2025 as a Second Lieutenant and continues to be grateful to Ole Miss for all of the amazing opportunities that came from his time here.
