Fourth Annual Internship Showcase a Success
Students gather to share their success stories of internships completed over the summer

OXFORD, Miss. – On September 11th, students at the University of Mississippi had the opportunity to learn more about internship opportunities at the School of Business Internship Showcase hosted in the Johnson Commons. The fair featured presentations from current students about internships in their respective fields.
Kaylee Goff, a senior public policy leadership major from Hurley, Mississippi, works for the Ole Miss Career Center and gave a presentation on her summer internship at ALSAC/ St. Jude. Goff presented to students about the many different opportunities St. Jude offers in their internships such as marketing, finance, and accounting and how they have opportunities in Memphis and remotely across the U.S. “I really enjoyed connecting with students and sharing about the ways I supported St. Jude during my time there,” she said.
Maddie Swistak, a junior marketing major from Hattiesburg, Mississippi, attended the Internship Showcase to meet Ole Miss students and learn about their personal experiences with internships. “Talking to students that were in my shoes just a year ago was such a great way to get a new perspective on different opportunities,” she said.
Intended to give attendees a firsthand look at what internships look like from the student perspective, presenters gave tips and strategies on how to find their dream internship opportunities. Swistak and Goff were able to connect at the event, where Goff was able to explain how she found her St. Jude opportunity and how she made the most of her summer as an intern.
“The Internship Showcase lets students learn from each other,” said Bailey Bracken, Associate Director of Experiential Education and Partnerships at the UM School of Business Administration. “Hearing real stories from their peers makes internships feel more real and doable. Thanks to the Internship Coordinator Network and Outreach, we’re able to bring together departments from across campus and highlight the many ways students can gain experience.”
