Student Profile: Landen Vanstory
Thanks to the Frank M. Lenoir Internship Support Fund, summer internship became a reality
OXFORD, Miss. – Landen Vanstory is a rising senior majoring in Business Management on the pre-law track.
During his time at the University of Mississippi, he has served in several leadership roles, including treasurer of the Ole Miss Undergraduate Legal Society, where he will serve as Vice-President this upcoming year. He will also serve as the Treasurer of Mortar Board – Tassels Chapter and of Badges and Gavels this year. In addition, he is a Pre-Law Ambassador and a new Business School Ambassador. Landen is also a proud member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.
After completing his senior year, Landen plans to atatend law school to become a corporate lawyer, specifically focused on anti-discrimination. His deep interest in the business world led him to choose Business Management as his major, and that decision has been affirmed by his incredible experiences at Ole Miss. Landen credits the business school for helping him build meaningful relationships with classmates and connecting him with professors who have become lifelong mentors.

This summer, Landen was fortunate enough to secure an internship with Wells Fargo in Control Management, based in Charlotte, North Carolina. The program was highly competitive, with 150,000 applicants and only about 1,200 internship offers extended. He is confident that the education and opportunities he received at Ole Miss played a major role in helping him stand out during the recruiting process.
While he was thrilled to accept the internship, Landen quickly realized the financial strain it would place on him. In addition to paying rent in Oxford, he now had to pay rent in Charlotte, more than nine hours away from home. Thanks to the generosity of the Frank M. Lenoir Internship Support Fund, he was able to afford housing through Airbnb and fully engage himself in the experience without being weighed down by financial concerns.
This summer, he engaged with a diverse and inspiring community at Wells Fargo. Landen has built lasting friendships and connected with senior leaders who have shown genuine interest in his growth and success. Their sincerity and support have been both genuine and inspiring, qualities that are sometimes rare.
Landen says, “The Internship Support Fund allowed me to focus on making meaningful connections, growing professionally, and discovering my passion. As I approach my final year at Ole Miss, I can confidently say that choosing this university and this major are the best decisions I have ever made. The generosity and support I have received are unmatched, and I will carry this experience with me for the rest of my life.”
