Ole Miss students connect with employers during business trip.

OXFORD, Miss. – Students from the University of Mississippi School of Business Administration traveled to Nashville for an exclusive networking trip, where they started their journey into the business world meeting with industry leaders, exploring career opportunities, and gaining real-world insights that will help share their future.
Students along with five business school staff members and development officers met with potential employers and connected with alumni in the Nashville area on March 19 through 21.
“The third annual Career Trek to Nashville was a tremendous success, reaffirming the city as a top destination for our students,” said Wesley Dickens, Director of Career Services at the Ole Miss business school. “Their preparation and professionalism left a lasting impression on the companies we visited.”
The business school, in collaboration with its corporate partners, began the Career Trek program in 2020. The school launched it to connect business students to professional opportunities and learn more about an organization and its opportunities.
“As an Ole Miss alum, it was incredibly rewarding to host these talented students and showcase both a day in the life of consulting and the vibrant business community in Nashville,” said Brandon Sherman, managing partner with Frazier & Deeter.
The goal of the Career Trek is to build long-term partnerships with industry-leading companies and discover opportunities forge connections.
“Opportunities like the student trek are a powerful way to bridge the classroom and the real world by helping students see what’s possible,” Sherman said. “I hope the experience sparked new insights as they each chart their own paths.”
Students learned about a variety of career and internship opportunities.
“Attending the Career Trek Nashville, hosted by the University of Mississippi School of Business Administration, was an incredible opportunity,” said Coty McGee, a senior majoring in finance from Biloxi. “It provided me with invaluable insights into the local business landscape and the companies operating in the area.
“I highly encourage others to take advantage of this unique opportunity, as it offers a rare chance to build meaningful relationships and gain firsthand knowledge that could be pivotal in launching a successful career.”
Over the last five years, the Business Connect Program has supported over 150 students in accepted job and internship offers.
